Published on November 19, 2023

There’s lots of Christmas light switch-ons events taking place across Tripperland over the next few weeks, and there is no better way to relax and enjoy the fun at these fab events, than getting there by bus.  Sit back and leave the driving and parking to your bus driver.  And if you fancy a mulled wine – go right ahead and enjoy!

We’ve pulled together a short list of some of the Christmas switch-ons that you can get to with your Tripper ticket:

Saturday 18 November
Clydebank Shopping Centre
12.30pm-4.30pm
Hosted by Capital FM, you can enjoy an afternoon of festive fun with entertainment, face painting, a caricaturist and balloon modelling.  We hear that Mr & Mrs Claus will be putting in an appearance too which we’re sure will delight young and old alike.

Sunday 19 November
George Square, Glasgow
4.30pm-7.00pm
Are you one of the lucky ones to have managed to get yourself a free ticket for the Glasgow Loves Christmas event?  This Sunday’s event is hosted by George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie from Clyde 1, so you can be sure of a fantastic time, with live music, singalongs, a choir – and of course, the countdown to the switch on!

Saturday 25 November
Robertson Park, Renfrew

Another great family event in Robertson Park on the 25th, with arts and craft workshops, Santa’s grotto, a Christmas Fayre and a funfair.

Saturday 25 November
Merry Milngavie, Milngavie Town Centre

Fancy seeing Santa and his reindeer parading down the Main Street?  Then head to Milngavie to enjoy this wonderful sight.  Street performers, carol signers and a Santa’s Grotto will also be there to entertain you and get you into the Christmas spirit.

Lots of fun, free events are planned for the afternoon ahead of the Johnstone switch on at 5pm.  Santa will welcome children into his grotto, and the St Vincent’s Hospice Christmas Market will be in the square too giving you the opportunity to maybe buy some Christmas gifts, and support the great work of the Hospice too.
